The AGA is committed to upholding the values of truth and reconciliation and respectfully aligning with the Indigenous community.
Annual Members Exhibition 2023:
Taking Chances
The AGA is very proud of its talented members. During the winter season we showcase members artwork and celebrate their achievements.
For centuries art has been about reaching new ways of expression. We invite you to reach into the unknown and try something new and different than your usual art practice. It might be something that you never thought about, something that always intrigued you or just curiosity about how it would feel to venture into the unfamiliar territory be it the medium, the technique, the theme, the composition, or all the above. Art is always created with emotions, so let them guide you through this search and experimentation to create something innovative and different. There are no mistakes in art! You might be pleasantly surprised with your discoveries! We hope to ignite some new interest and see some new talents in our members this year. Depending on what we receive for entries, special awards might be created for Best In: Installation, Digital Art, Mixed Media, Sculpture, Fabric Art etc. We are also asking you to submit a short, write up of no more than 200 words explaining the new venture that you took. Everyone who holds a membership to the Art Gallery of Algoma is welcome to submit one piece of art that matches the theme. We hope to see a wide variety of entries and many first-time participants as well. All ages and abilities are welcome as this exhibition is for you! Important dates: Entry Form Submission by January 21, 2023 (click the attached form to download a copy) Artwork submission by February 4, 2023. The exhibition will open to the public on February 17, 2023. We look forward to hearing from you and seeing your artwork! |
