Meet our Art Instructors

Catia Mitchell

Hi! My name is Catia and I am currently the art instructor at the Art Gallery of Algoma. I am a recent graduate from the University of Guelph where I studied Studio Art. Now I am in my first year of teachers college with hopes to be an art teacher. I have always loved working with children and have been passionate about the arts since a young age. In my practice I mostly do painting and drawing but always enjoy experimenting with new mediums, I also love reading about art history from all around the world and learning about how art all began. I can’t wait to meet you all and learn how to make some amazing pieces of art!

Kathleen Murray

Hi, my name is Kathleen. I am currently the Art Gallery of Algoma’s lead art instructor. I worked at the gallery a few years ago and I taught their summer art classes. Since then, I obtained my HBFA, BEd, and my MFA degree. I am an acrylic painter who is obsessed with painting Algoma’s natural world. You can see my artwork on my artist website: www.kathleenmurray.ca. I can not wait to teach you about artist techniques and art history, but most of all, having fun together making art!

Audrey Grandinetti

Hello, my name is Audrey and I’m an art instructor at the Art Gallery of Algoma. I’m currently studying in the Creative Industries program at Ryerson University. I love artwork because I think it’s a powerful form of expression which gives us the ability to connect with others and tell stories. I’m a huge fan of pop art and experiential art, and I love to draw. I look forward to meeting you and am excited to create together!
