The AGA Board and Staff is sending best wishes to all of you for a safe and happy holiday season!
Based on the directive of the Province of Ontario and out of an abundance of concern for the well-being of our community, the Art Gallery of Algoma will be closed from Thursday December 24th at 1:00 PM, until further notice. While every effort will be made to sustain our virtual programs, all on-site programming including exhibitions will be suspended until further notice.

Plan your visit
In the light of the pandemic we would like to assure you that your health and safety is our first priority. We are implementing all rules and regulations as per advice of health professionals and as outlined by Algoma Public Health. We sincerely hope that your visit will be pleasant. Our staff and volunteers will be there to assist you in any way they can and also to make sure that you are safe as well as everybody else.
PHYSICAL DISTANCING
We ask that you be mindful of the 2-meter distancing requirement when you visit the AGA.
The number of visitors in the gallery at one time will be limited. There will be a maximum of 2 visitors in the Gallery Shop at one time. There will be a maximum of 3 visitors in the lobby at one time. A Public Engagement Coordinator will be in the exhibition space to answer any of your questions about the exhibition, and to ensure that physical distancing guidelines are being followed. |
GREETER
Agreeter will welcome you to the gallery by the front door and will explain all health and safety procedures. The greeter will also ask for your contact information so that we can track down all visitors in case something unwanted happens.
A visitor will be asked if they have had any symptoms related to COVID-19. If a staff member or a visitor shows signs of illness, they will be encouraged to leave immediately. |
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE)
In accordance with Algoma Public Health, we require visitors, AGA staff and volunteers to wear masks inside the gallery building. You can bring your own mask and have it on when you enter the building or the AGA will provide disposable masks for visitors to use as needed.
If you need personal protective equipment, the AGA shall provide you with all necessary PPE. |
DIRECTIONAL SIGNS
Please be aware of all directional signs and instructional signs posted throughout the gallery.
One-way foot traffic is mandatory inside the gallery. |
SANITATION
AGA staff/volunteers clean all equipment and high touch surfaces frequently throughout the day.
Hand sanitizer stations and disinfectant wipes are located throughout the building (in the lobby, exhibition space, and the Gallery Shop) for your use. |
PAYMENT
We ask that visitors use “low contact” methods of payment when possible for the safety of everybody; avoid using cash and try to bring a credit/debit card for purchases.
